Monsoon is an app designed to help you manage the feeds that you read. It will help you find:
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: This app is not finished (or even close to it) — only one small part of it works (and then barely).
Most of the time I did get to spend was implementing an API for reading feeds. This was not supposed to be the core of the application, reading your feeds was supposed allow tracking of which ones you spent time reading. Once this information was collected it would have enabled refining the way you read.
Alas, while I would have loved to have finished the app before the end of Node Knockout, personal matters came up.
Perhaps I should not have allowed it to go to voting at all, but I felt that it was worth sharing where I did get too (and the concept in general).
node.js (duh), google reader api, backbone.js, handlebar.js
Voting is now closed.

chinacceleratorI get the concept and it looks valid, as long as I could import feeds from other sources (but for those under google reader this could work). The reader works fine and I could browse between feeds easily. Overall this could be useful but deserve some work, thanks for sharing :–)
__mario__Looks promising.
therazorbladeThe idea is interesting, but the thing about dead feed is that they are, well, dead :–) Getting personal feeds analytics is interesting but only really useful if can be combined with reading habits.
It brought my feeds in and I could page through them quickly. I think it might help the judges if you explain why this is better or different than other feed readers.
keith_hansonI hate to be so brutal as to give such low ratings (especially with the message of personal matters coming up), but I would be remiss in my duties as a judge if I didn’t call it as I see it. Utility: HOLY FAST BATMAN! Practically instantaneously viewing of the textual content. The lack of any other features other than viewing, though, forced me to rate it so. It does show promise, though, as a super speedy viewing platform, and the other features that are surely to come will be enticing as well. Design: The design, unfortunately, seemed extremely utilitarian and almost an after thought. I can only assume that much of the time was spent on development. Innovation: Though loading a LOT of feeds for instantaneous viewing is awesome, there are quite a lot of readers on the market now. The innovation, I hope, will come down the road with more time. Completeness: With only the single feature of viewing posts (albeit extremely fast), cause me to feel that this didn’t have much time at all put into the development. Would have really loved to see a lot more here. Good luck on fleshing this out further!
jolieodellNotes: -The app didn’t remember which stories I’d already read, forcing me to re-read all my feeds. +Nice parsing of Slashdot comments. Can you try to do the same with the Hacker News feed? Currently, it shows headlines only. -Headlines don’t click through to full stories… that’s an unexpected feature. ;) -Not-so-nice handling of images. -One thing about the overall design: The point of full-page or full-screen content is that it’s supposed to be prettier that way. It’s supposed to mimic the old school print aesthetic of a glossy magazine. When you have time to revisit the app, please keep that in mind. All things considered, the world needs a better RSS reader, and I appreciate your working on one! Keep it up.
Like the idea. Although I mostly know which feeds I read most, it would be fun to see hard data. Would like a design that allowed more random access to posts, but that may just be an incomplete part.
