it’s a game with bots and algorithms
well… the real game is not working 100%, so you can judge the innovation of the idea going to /learn (there’s a Learn button in the index).

mayumiconI really like this idea, reminds me of the typing games I played as kid which would now seem so rudimentary but really enabled me to learn typing skills. I’m on a small screen so it’s hard to constantly have to scroll up and down to see my commands and the game. So i think there is a good idea here but just rough around the edges.
felixgeGreat potential here, very impressive design and tutorial. Amazing work, too bad it’s not fully complete.
Really appreciated the Scratch-like interface. Please finish this.
trycatcherLove it! Great design! Even a tutorial. Wish I could play it.
dGoligorskyI like the idea. Getting the structure of coding algorithm into a game is a great concept. We did stuff like this in LOGO with the turtle robot in elementary school. My teacher had a turtle hand puppet that he would use to explain the commands.
Really nice idea. I would like to see this project finished.
I think this is a really cool intro to programming. I think the game itself could use a little work to be more engaging/entertaining but its a good start
hi! why just 3 starts to our design? :D
acdouglasI didn’t get to play because no one else was around, but I really enjoy the concept and the tour was beautifully executed. After I exploded my bot, I couldnt figure out how to get a new one going. Well done!
hi! why just 3 starts to our design? :D
therazorbladeCould not actually judge the fun or completeness of it, but the design and idea are great and the tutorial is very well done (if only it worked).
Great idea lots of potential!
AudreyLoGreat concept and clean design! The bot is a very useful component to your app for users who are totally new to programming and it makes the app more fun in general. I can tell that there is a tremendous amount of potential for your app. Good job!
iapainAwesome! It reminds me of old bot based game. Also loved design and the arena. Pity it doesn’t work properly.
I could see the potential from the tutorial, which, is really well-made, great work.
slightlylateI’m smitten. The design is fun, the fact that the intro mode is implemented already is slick, and the concept is wonderful. For 48 hours, y'all killed.
chrisumbelthis entry was ambitious considering the timeframe. even though the game engine was quite incomplete the tutorial was pretty darn professional.
codepo8I love the idea of that. It would be even better if the interface were not an IDE but if the people had to write real code – maybe even in a JavaScript syntax. Meaning you make a bot API and let people write code. Extra points for writing your own weapons.
I could imagine my younger self sitting in front of the computer with a final version of this, trying to get into programming so that I can build my own games. Gradually easing students out of the visual system into actual coding in the upper levels would be great!
Ways of making learning fun (especially for something as useful as programming) is something I think is worth pursuing. This reminds me of Logo (turtle drawing?) + Bomberman. I like it. :) You spent a lot of time making it look really nice and the walk-through for learning is fabulous. I hate that you ran out of time getting the “pit” together. Please finish it!
Just to let you know that your idea is great!
This can get to be something really awesome! Please finish it after the NKO!
I hope you guys spend time on this after NKO because I’d love to play the crap out of it. The idea is solid, the design is pretty sweet, and I like how you’re “teaching programming” as well. Unfortunately my bot blew up (I managed to nest a couple of loops) and every once in a while the UI completely ignored my clicks. I can’t wait to try this again after the bugs are sorted out!
Looks great, would love to try it out when the game is working.
more conditions like “is enemy near me?”
Core War for the simple web!
Really cool guys! | |||
waxpancakeBeautiful design, great concept. Finish it up and release!
fredyatesivWhat a fun idea! I have little to know programming knowledge and have never really wanted to learn but this both kept me interested and taught me a little about how programming works. Solid job, I think teaching something as complicated (to noobs) as programming in the form of a game is a really fantastic idea and would love to see this developed into an actual product someday.
Pretty | |||
Fun idea and fantastic design, your game looks very professional and polished. As you mentioned, it seems the game isn’t quite complete (eg. playing with another player, etc.) but the learn section is very clear and helpful and I think I understand how all the functions are meant to work. I’d love to play again once all the functionality is complete!
