With PicStack you can create shareable and collaborative photo albums. It’s simple to use and no signup needed. Useful to group photos taken of some event or person and remember moments.
To access a picstack, fill the “/name” box with the desired name and press enter. You’ll be redirected to the picstack. If it doesn’t exists, it will be created and an edit URL will be provided to you.
To upload images, access the picstack using the edit URL, click “Pick…” and select the images. An “Upload” link will appear. Click it and wait.
Yes, I chose not to synchronize photo positions, because it uses extra bandwidth with no real benefit. Socket.io is used to add new photos to the album by the time they are uploaded.
I lost too much time looking for a nice cross-browser compatible uploader. Unfortunately, I didn’t had time to explore the potential of Plupload (this includes drag and drop), so I ended up with a simple uploader.
Thanks for the feedback. I really intend to improve PicStack.

therazorbladeOverall this can be very useful for creating quick collections of images and browsing photos. The Pick + Upload double menu is a bit odd – not sure why you can’t just upload right after pick. A must have is a read-only link for sharing.
I like the idea of this, the ability to shuffle the pictures was a nice touch. I thought the design was nice. I feel like it’s not 100% complete, it’s missing a few things.
swoodienice interface, fast, upload wasn’t clear at first, shuffle/stack for display is nice, but toggling through one at a time didn’t work as expected. i can imagine quite a number of nice uses for this tho. also, team of 1? nice work decs!
I tested this with two tabs. There’s no real-time synchronization between users? Why use node? What good does it do arranging your photos if the next time you reload they are in a different arrangement? Is this intentional? I suppose it’s useful if you want to have an album where multiple people can upload their photos just by sharing the URL. But then there’s no organization of these albums and you better not lose the URL. There’s a lot of potential here but I feel like it’s not being taken advantage of.
very nice! it’s like the site made in flash for the movie Cloverfield the gallery of some android’s terminal.
foxxtrotReally clean UI, pretty easy to use. Interesting premise. Upload flow could have been a bit smoother, and drag and drop would have been awesome.
chrissharkeyApplication was confusing to use at first, more clearly marked instructions would have helped. I’m sorry but the application did not work for me, I selected pictures and waited 5-10 minutes for it to load and nothing happened. I tried Chrome and Safari.
Upload pics and have fun moving them. I don’t know about completeness, but I don’t really feel what this app could be used for…
urbanpugComments: This could be incredibly useful. I like the simplicity. I think there is a lot of potential for integration with other services, commenting, security, multiple sub-albums, rotating images, starring images, tagging them, etc. Consider paid subscription models for additional services – more pictures, higher quality, etc.
I see the idea—a virtual desk where you can upload pictures and share with friends. Unfortunately it isn’t complete, and I don’t really see myself using it. Nice start on the design, though!
