charlesbeelerRock Band for my keyboard. Design looks good (especially home page). Fun to play with for the Guitar Hero/Rock Band crowd. Mid-level score on innovation because for same reason.
mattpodwysockiInteresting concept, but took quite a while to load, so I was wondering if it was going to work. It’s a good start though, though needs some syncing.
This is the sickest project I’ve seen thus far. The timings are a bit off but that can be tweaked later. Enjoyed playing with this and hope you keep building! Big fan of music related projects :–)
Very strong on concept. Couldn’t see any text but eventually found my way into the game. Visual elements could use a bit more polish but the game is surprisingly complete for 48 hours!
amirmanjiI wasn’t ever able to get this to work on Chrome. I was stuck on a screen with the word “is” at the bottom for a while, and then eventually some song selections popped up but nothing happened when I clicked on them. I switched over to Safari and it seemed to work. I didn’t feel a strong connection between the music and notes that were displayed onscreen. I wasn’t able to discern the purpose of the “tip jar” at the top – maybe I was just too shitty to ever earn anything? The design of the keys and notes themselves was kind of bland. All the colors seemed kind of dull and sometimes the notes were overlapping and it was hard to tell what I was actually supposed to play. Some instructions would be nice. I’ve played Rock Band and Guitar Hero, so I was able to figure out what to do from context, but someone less familiar with those games might struggle to pick up on the concept.
Gameplay didn’t seem to be on rhythm with the music, just seemed like random keypresses. A lot of the game entries in NKO take games that are lots of fun to play IRL and then translate them to real-time multiplayer on the internet. But I think a lot of the fun gets lost in this translation. After all, is guitar hero really fun or is it just fun to have an excuse to drink beer with your friends and listen to rock music?
For a guitar hero player it was not hard to figure out what this was about. Awesome!
When I tried this there was too many people and nothing happened. Server crashed?
Took me too long to figure out the point of the game, not all the screens loaded, and I didn’t have anyone to play against. Would have maybe liked to have used eight fingers instead of six?
Nice take on Guitar Hero for the keyboard. Seems to have bugs which really hamper the gameplay. Keyboard input sometimes didn’t work and the chords didn’t seem to match the music at times. Additionally I logged in with a name but everyone was called Mr Anonymous. I would have liked a solo mode for just one hand.
christkvcool concept based on guitar hero, a bit buggy on my mac using safari and I could not make it run in chrome. Promising idea and fun.
Nice work guys! It took a while to load, and some instructions would have been nice, but it works, and plays well!
Rock band on the web, nicely done! The collaboration part didn’t work for me. Want’s able to get to a tipping opportunity. The keyboard and incoming notes part need some design love. The front page is very pretty.
