Judging Instructions
You need more than one person to discover the fully potential of this app.
One person pastes YouTube URL in field on main page which creates room for watching. Then the URL from above the chat (right hand side) can be send to others… and let the watching begin. Every participant sees the same moment of the video, person who created the room has control over video players. Every message written in chat is marked with timestamp, which can be clicked to jump to moment in video when the message was written, so its easier to understand comments.
Tested in Chrome and Firefox.

judgeGreat concept. Love the idea of syncing the video timestamps to chats. However, my chats consistently started failing or dropping the user after the video got going.

therazorbladejudgeThis is a basic implementation of the idea of social video watching. It is more of a utility than a fun activity. The chat-video link it a nice touch, but I was having problems getting the video to actually sync across browsers.
Similar to Driv.in and Videos with Friends.
slightlylatejudgePausing doesn’t seem to sync for me, which is too bad, and it absolutely needs to come with Nyan Cat pre-loaded into the URL = )
Would love to see a view of the comments that’s tagged to the scrobber so you can visually see when they were made.

The idea to put comments onto scrobber is basically the reason why I keep video-timestamps with each comment – but time was the boss, so I put that onto shelf called “do it after node knockout”.
After reviews from judges, contestants and my friends I am pretty sure that this is not the end of nyantube development :)

If you keep working on it — I would just recommend to keep pushing on the features while keeping your very simple, easy to use format. I presume the two primary use cases is work (we both need to see a video to then have a discussion) or just having fun. Video chat integration? Screen grabs? Facebook integration to let friends know a group of you are watching something right then? I think a lot of cool possibilities.
But again, great job on getting something that works well and solves a very specific and understandable problem.

However, I don’t see where I would need this. I already have a chat program and real-time for short, funny videos (as this is marketed for) isn’t really useful.
I would have also liked a way to search for YouTube videos right from the site, instead of having to go away, find a URL, and then come back.

I noticed a few minor bugs, but overall it was quite good!
