caolanSeeing the pointers of other players on the screen was a nice touch, but it could really have used a list of players currently in the room too. I like the idea of working with others to overcome some simple puzzles, but being unable to talk to players in other rooms made it almost impossible to formulate a strategy on how to tackle each level. Especially since it was often possible for one player to move forward but leave another behind, or for you to go back one level and become stuck. Unfortunately, that turned the game into randomly clicking around and occasionally bumping into people instead of tackling a series of challenges as a team. For the most part it worked, and it would probably only need some small changes to make a drastic difference to the user experience.
therazorbladeBoy this is complicated. The basic game engine is pretty impressive but I could not figure out what the game is all about, and coordinating with a random group of people coming in and out proved to be too hard.
The game works. It’s technically ok. But I got stuck with “both buttons should be activated”. I waited for the opportunity to test with a friend and the chat worked fine, but our arrows had ofset, and nothing would make us pass this stage. I suppose the game could be fun if it presented some challenges and obstacles, but it lacks ate least one example of a difficult but achievable level. I read the explanation after a bit of frustration and now I get the idea. But needing 4 people is kind of too much.
Fun, but it seems like one player has to be left behind when passing level 4 : (
Really good point! It would be cool if that door let through people who have helped others get through.
I didn’t get it. With a bit more description, or information…
Yeah. Looking back, I realise that we were a bit close to the idea and assumed it would be more intuitive than it actually is. Damn you time constraints.
So basically, the idea was to make a game/experiment to see how people interact with each other and whether they work together to help each other, etc.
Various game elements – e.g. level 3 has 4 buttons that need to be hovered over by other players before the door is enabled. That means for anyone to get to level 4, four other people need to assist him/her.
Our goal was to capture all players that assisted you and on our win/credits scene to list them as people that helped you succeed.
Similarly, there are elements in the game that make you choose to hinder others. For example: each player is assigned one of three colours (red, blue, yellow), and on level 5 you vote a colour that can’t use the stairs. Players of the colour group with the most votes can’t use the stairs until another colour has more votes.
Anyways, thanks everyone for taking the time to look at our entry. Don’t spend too long on it, as we understand it’s difficult to use without others there to help. The weekend was a fun for us and a good learning experience.
I think this has a lot of potential to be a great puzzle type game, but got stuck not knowing what to do next.
christkvInteresting game idea that can be expanded on. Lots of casual gamers out there.
csanzCool design, not much game play though… tried to get people to join in to play with me, but no luck.
Impressive progress for the weekend. I didn’t have anyone else to play. Wish there were more instructions. Interesting concept.
