Traffic Shout

By Hurricane

Screencast
Quick Intro

Share your traffic information and see what the others are sharing. Don't just go and see. Spend some time to tell others how the things going on around you.

Description

It will show you traffic information from anywhere in the world which has shared by people like you. This is a community based system so the more you interact with this the more you will benefit.

Yes, we already have web applications that do the same thing, maybe better than our application, like Google Maps. But they can't be aware of any corner of the world. They have limitations.

Think about a place that these application don't have any support. What will you do if you want to know the traffic ahead of you? If you know there is someone you somewhere ahead of you, you'll probably call that person and ask "how's the traffic ahead?". But if no-one you know is there?

That's where our application has the advantage. Anyone can tell others, what's going on around them. We call it "Shouting". Yes, shout out loud and tell others "it's only a light traffic, don't worry...", "don't come this way, these things are not moving...", "really? But here it's fine my friends..."

Judging Instructions

If someone has shouted about the traffic when you visit the application, you'll see it at once. More red means more traffic and more yellow means less traffic. If you want to shout about the traffic condition around you right now, just choose the level of condition with the combo box and tap on the "Shout" button.

Neat idea if it could get out to a broad audience. But sadly the current implementation makes it very hard to imagine how it would work, even with the dummy bot.

And it feels like the manual flagging of the current traffic might be to much of a hassle for users. Perhaps using the geolocation/GPS APIs in JavaScript to measure speed might be a easier way to get accurate information continuously from users of the platform.

Useful application if it can get the masses.

Thanks, appreciate your vote and the comment.

Great idea, needs more features though, it is hard to compete with existing solutions such as GMaps or other map apps with traffic sources.

Thanks for the vote and the comment, friend. Yeah, it's really hard to compete the current players :-) we just aimed places that these big players doesn't support yet. Our point is, if there are people around somewhere, they can help others to be informed even if any existing service doesn't do it.

I like the idea - I'd consider maybe making three giant buttons for Fine/Slow/VSlow and optimizing for mobile.

Nice to see you too, pal :-)

A pitch video would make this much easier to judge. The bot posting random traffic data would be nice, but I scrolled around for a while and couldn't find any other data points.

As is, this could use some work to be useful and Google Maps (and others) already seem to do a pretty good job.

Thanks for the feedback buddy! We know that we cannot compete with other solutions in this area(like G-maps) but our idea is not to do what all these other solutions are doing. Can you imagine a place where Google traffic is not supported(there are lot), You'll be helpless. But this solution is based on the crowd. Which means if you are in a traffic in city A and I'm headed that way i know there's a traffic ahead. Its all about people helping people. As a web app its a cross platform compatible solution.

    Is it something like waze?

Yes it is something like waze. But in a much simpler way. Actually we wanted to learn Node.js. So we chose a simple idea :-).
