emckeanThe side-scrolling is pretty cool! And frustrating.
Nice game! Unfortunately i was the only one playing at this moment. The width of the game ground could be dynamic according to the number of players.
My only complaint is there was only 1 other person playing at the same time.
I was surprise to see that this tetris has a huge horizontal space which leads to take hours to get fulfilled! This could kill people productivity! :) I can’t imagine the amount of work to get this up and running! Very impressive! But its strength relies on the development, as a product it doesn’t catch my attention except that my twitter picture is cames along with every new piece. Classic multiplayer games is not a new ideia and has been around for years. That’s a direction that many contestants are taking on KO this year.
Nice work guys! Very addictive.
therazorbladeI am going to kill someone! This is pretty awesome and insanely aggravating at the same time. I got to play along for about 10 minutes, constructed this amazing setup when some a*****e joins in and just let the pieces fall. WTF! Kidding aside, the game is far too wide. The width has to be based on how many people are playing and you have to add some ability to control rooms. Also, the game died on my with like 2800 points (which took a while to get to). Overall, pretty fucking awesome but need some work.
maraksquiresGame experience was some-what lacking for me. I think you should re-work the core game mechanics a bit. While it’s a neat idea, users should be able to clear rows in their own view screen by default, instead of having to collaborate across the entire map. Also, the sound was terrible. One of the best things about Tetris is the SFX and music. You should have added background music and better sound effects.
hc5dukeThis project cost us about 8 man-hours at my company (so far). A lot of fun, and great idea. I think the only thing extra I would have wanted (already mentioned a few times) is the ability to create a private room. We came so close to getting tetris but some dude just ruined our game at the last moment.
daviduThe game should realize that I’m the only one playing and shrink the board. multi-player or social games need to be fun even when one or two people are playing.
I was having a lot of fun, but then I remember why Tetris worked best as a one player game. Some asshole joined my game and ruined it. Not fun at all. Could be more fun if you set up the ability to have invite only games where I could invite my friends. On the design side, I’d like it if each player got their own color and then when they were placed they remained there, so you could remember who played what where. I’d alos like to see more of the game board. I’m looking on a 1920 wide monitor and there’s so much more for me to see. This could be achieved responsively with different gameboard viewports at different browser widths, and could make the game even more fun. As far as innovation goes, it’s really just Tetris. Which is awesome. But it’s still just Tetris. The addition of multiplayers could be great, just not in an “everyone come and screw up the game” type of way. However, you guys nailed the execution. It’s running great. Kudos.
Nice one! | |||
Great concept and lots of fun. It’s a fairly wide game, you should make use of the width of the page rather than the conventional Tetris screen size.
I agree with the comment about making better use of the whole screen. This is a HUGE tetris game! Show me! I wish I could have played when some other people were online. Seems like it would have been way more fun with other folks. Maybe a demo mode where some computer players play along with you so people can try it out without feeling lonely? I have to subtract a few innovation points since it IS a tetris implementation. :) You need key repeat on the left and right arrow keys! It’s a huge field! Moving to the left or right quickly is a pain.
voodootikigodVery complicated to understand when it was game over and why, would be best to scroll over to the fail point. Did not work on Firefox 6. Would be a lot better if done in a scalable way so that I could see it easier on large screen and small (mobile) screen. Also a short url for “invite a friend” would make it 10x more viral.
urbanpugseems to work okay. it was a little bit difficult to get any lines as the screen was so wide. but, clever.
SethGBThis is so addictive that it nearly halted entire work on our own entry ;)
I really love it. But I wish I could create private rooms (to avoid jerks ruining my game), and map size is probably to big, to finish one row.
amirmanjiA lot of fun, even though I was never able to clear a row. Two key Tetris features are missing: the ability to see the next piece and sweet background music. Dynamically scaling the size of the game based on the number of players would be a nice feature, but I don’t know how you’d go about shrinking the game when players leave. It would also be nice if the pieces stayed color-coded by player after falling, so I could tell which other players were responsible for cramping my style.
Great, GREAT idea. So addictive! We were trying to write our own entry but your game, guys, kept us away from our own code for a loong time! It sometimes hangs out but anyhow it’s fantastic idea!
Great game, really fun!
andrewpbrettReally fun! It took me a second to realize that I was at the “edge” of the game board, and there were a couple of points where the game seemed to hang, but that’s most likely my fault since I’m playing while on a caltrain and my connection is slow. I’m not sure how to clear a row though! I think this would really shine with other people on the board at the same time – I was playing alone. Not sure how hard it would be to add in a bot to interact with if you’re the only one on the board.
Great idea! Though it is practically impossible to fill an entire row.
It’s really great ! Wow !
Convert classic game into MMO – 100% win!
The size of the room should change to the number of players.
Loved this! | |||
Funny! :) | |||
Cool concept and well executed. The only problem is I didn’t have anyone to play with.
drewblasVery neat concept. I will keep trying to play with more people, as I bet it would be a lot of fun with lots of people. Once thing I didn’t understand: Are you supposed to fill the entire bottom row? It is very very wide, so it seems that would be hard, even with a lot of people.
This was actually done last year for the competition, but your implementation was much better. It wasn’t initially clear what was going on when I first visited the site, and those spark Tetris lines were way cool, so I wish the interface was better around that. I liked showing the Twitter screen name. Ultimately, it wasn’t as much as a blast as it could be because of: 1. I had to press keys again and again rather than having it repeat naturally; 2. the lines took too long to clear. Perhaps making the board a bit less wide would help? Good work, and I’m looking forward to where you take this.
