A massively (hope so) multiplayer online panda simulation, with pandas shooting fire balls and slaughtering each other in a jungle like environment.
And yes, pandas shooting each other is kinda sad – hence “Sad Pandas”.
Works best on Google Chrome 13, Safari 5, or the iPad (iOS 4). Tested also with Firefox 6, but screen updating is quite sluggish.
Requires at least two players to be any fun.
To start, type in your screen name and move your panda with your keyboard’s arrow keys. To shoot, align your panda with another and shoot with SPACE. After panda dies (it takes three shots), it will respawn after a while.
You can also act like a ninja panda and hide behind the palms, massacring everyone who comes too close.

janlHa ha… Pandas shooting fireballs.
therazorbladeKudos for getting the fire fly behind trees effect. Would be much more fun if fire could not go through stones and some more weapons. Also, you need to give some visual so players know who their panda is.
fatThis game is SUPER dope. I’ll be playing this at like 4 am.
Fun game, tried it out with some friends. Concentrating on the pandas and having that strong green color scheme made me dizzy and my eyes crossed for 5 mins after playing.
visnupfun – ok fun, not really going to keep playing it after 5 minutes though. :( design – who doesn’t love cute pandas? especially ones that burn a firey burninated death, but still come back to life? innovation – of course, done before completeness – nothing broke for me. everything made sense. go pandas go!
awesome little fun! | |||
christkvFun concept and cool usage of the possibilities of nodejs. Needs some work on the client side to make it a smoother experience.
I really liked the idea. I think could enhanced graphics and navigability to have a better experience. Congrats
zapnapSeems like a pretty basic multi-player overhead shoot-em-up here. Reminds me of a MMO version of the classic Amiga game Extreme Violence (which badly, badly needs to happen). So it’s fun, but not exactly innovative. But not everything has to be innovative to be awesome. Some things I liked: The health meters are a nice touch, the panda graphics are funny, and it’s fun to slay your friends (which is of course what’s most important). What it needs:
But overall, great effort for a weekend code competition. I hope you guys continue to develop this.
Fun little game :) | |||
Funny game, I’d go for “ESRB Adults only” due to “intense violence”.
Wtf shooting pandas :D | |||
Didn’t see anything that caught my attention.
It works, it’s functional and it’s fun for the first hours. Wish I could see more people there to see what it feels like multiplaying.
Maybe my panda was sad because it didn’t any pandas to shoot! :( But I’m gonna give 3 stars imagining how fun it is with 5 or 6 people at the same time.
