Rdio powered music jukebox with songs picked based off bidding and votes.
Use an existing Rdio account or create a trial account for the best experience. Guests access is available, but is not the best experience. Guest accounts will hear sample tracks and may be out of sync from what’s currently playing.
Note: works better in Chrome
Note #2: If there’s no other users in the room, here’s a workaround for a single user:
Powered by the Rdio API. NPM Modules: express jade rdio oauth socket.io connect-redis resistance

It could be fun if it had more users. I don’t have a rdio account but managed to use it with the workaround. The UI is neat but it would be nicer to have some directions as to what to do and not just the explanation here at the knockout page.
therazorbladeI got as far as entering a room and suggesting a song. Could not see the suggestion from another browser/user so could not bid and experience the rest of the site.
We need to improve the messaging. A workaround right now is to open a new browser, login, pick a song, and bid 0. Then in the first window choose the song you want and bid normally.
Showing a status next to connected users would probably be a good idea to show who’s placed a bid and who’s ready.
Thanks for the feedback!
therazorbladeThat’s slightly better. I added one fun star.

landlessnessidea is fun and useful! visual design was pretty cool, i wish the interaction design had been more thoughtful. innovative use of rdio.
ekryskiI wasn’t able to get the song to play. I tried doing the work around but both just accepted the bid but the current bid didn’t increase and my points didn’t decrease. I wasn’t signed in but I wonder if there is a bug there. Overall I think the idea is kind of neat. I don’t have an rdio account (and I don’t really intend to get one) but it’s kind of a unique idea. I like the use of Plax and actually really like the CSS over all. Very rock band ish.
I actually considered writing an app that did this a few weeks ago when I discovered turntable.fm. I’m glad I don’t have to now! The only part that was confusing to me was the placing a bid to play a song part. I really like that idea though, just needed a little direction to understand that’s how it worked. Excellent job, good luck!
sventuredCool idea. Can see the opportunities for extending and building it out. Having “preset” rooms seeded may help get people into it.
geradCool parallax effect on the background. I don’t have an Rdio account so couldn’t fully appreciate it. Couldn’t get it to work though (edit: actually works better in Chrome, I was in Firefox). Seem like an interesting way to pick the next song to play though generally. Not very useful for 1 person, so maybe work on that experience a bit more. :–)
By rule this only works well in a highly social environment. I’m not particularly concerned about how it works for a single user.
Bonus points for a fully-implemented chat. :)
