Really see what people are saying on Twitter. Pick a trending topic or search term, then sit back, relax and watch.
Go the the site. Select a current trending topic, or enter a search term of your own. Sit back, relax and watch the twends animate before your eyes. Will not work any version of Internet Explorer, where it will prompt you to install Chrome Frame. If you manage to click on one of the birds, it will display the tweet that bird represents.

adinardiAn ideia that can be much more improved. I ’m not impressed since it just seems to do basic statistics on several tweets.
ragavanI tried a few different terms (both hashtags and general terms). The circles took a while to appear and I never managed to actually get a bird. It was also not clear whether you could interact with the results ( I couldn’t). So, overall it felt pretty incomplete. It does sound like a good idea that perhaps with a bit more time would be more compelling.
This is a fun way to watch a topic on Twitter. I actually caught a few birds, nice touch.
Not really useful, but I like watching it.
SteveStrezaThis app worked great for what it does. It’s fast, well designed, animates nicely, and is fun to look at for popular topics. I’d add a way to show the tweets in a list on the side, and a way to view bubbles in more detail (either via some kind of zooming UI or selecting by clicking). Works pretty well on the iPhone, although there was some jittering of the window frame when the circles repositioned themselves. I dig this a lot. Well done.
dGoligorskyNice interface and fun to watch the tags changing. Wish I could view tweets directly from the application. Wish I could dig into each of the bubbles to see the tweets referencing that word or re-search based on the word I’ve selected. This app suffers from the tendency of esoteric subject having sparse dialogue. I have to search for keywords that get a lot of action… ended up searching “college” expecting that people have a lot to say about it, but was sad to see that the most common keyword was “football.” Searched “Miranda July” because I want to see her latest film, but not much is going on there. How could those searches lead to more compelling results? Also, I wish the birds flying around were less “confetti” and more meaningful by making them clickable to see the full tweet or having them linger on the page. Looks nice, keep going!
andrewpbrettKinda cool. For a second there I thought you were just trolling with the instructions to try to click the birds as they went by. Then I managed to click one. Well played. Might be cool if clicking one of the other bubbles started a new search for that term.
therazorbladeCould not get the birds to show up. Have to say I don’t get what this is good for. I could not make any sense of the information, but it did make pretty animations.
Thanks! No birds not even initially? What browser? If you only see birds initially and then crickets try looking at the current trends.
Oops! Yeah, the birds don’t fly on FF because I forgot to put in the -moz version of the css rule. So embarrassed.
therazorbladeOh, that’s pretty cool (the birds). Could not click on them – way too fast. Added another fun star for that.
dapsaysCool idea! The main problem was that many of the words weren’t particularly relevant (like “does”). Might be interesting (but hard) to pick out only relatively unique words.
mstinaleeGreat visualization tool. Much easier to read in terms of actual words associated with the topic compared to what’s out there. Like that it’s real-time and enables key word search. The parts I’d like to see improved are:

chrismatthieugreat demonstration of the power of node and the twitter api
It’s complete, it looks good, and could be somewhat insightful for people interested in Twitter data. However, I don’t see how this showcases anything new or innovative concerning Node.js, so I feel as though I need to rank it low in the innovation category.

Awwww yeah! Who’s a belieber?
Beautiful. Would be nice to be able to click a word circle to load that one as the “search term”.
Thanks for the feedback. I think that’s a great idea.
mendelcCool idea and great design. May want to focus on phrases rather than words to make it more useful.
Thanks!
It is definitely a fun way to visualize the tweets! An idea is giving the option to only show tweets with pictures, and show the pictures instead – or links! In order to be really useful, I would like to be able to only consider tweets from a specific set of users – a list, for instance.
jamesaduncanData visualizations are awesome and so is this :)
The data it shows isn’t incredibly “relevant” to the query. I assume it’s using frequency or something to figure out which words to promote — but there’s a lot of noise there.
The display is definitely interesting and maybe some way to see the tweets which are relevant in the UI itself would be cool.
