Thanks for the vote.
Thanks for taking a look! I will admit I had numerous plans that didn't make it due to spending way too much time solving low framerate issues.
In terms of a 3D light-cycle runner, the biggest thing I wanted to do was have the walls extend the playing field such that you ran up them vs crashing into them. That and multiplayer. Only so much I could do as a solo team!
I'm hoping to get a version out with both of those eventually.
Re: Utility - the use case where I had needed/wanted this was actually the reverse of what you describe. I was building a CMS-like admin/tools page where different users and organizations were being tracked and displayed. Each user had an avatar, but none for the orgs, and that was the rationale behind building out this project.
Re: Design - yup, I did say exactly that in my descriptions. I thought it looked presentable at least, but to each his own.
The Spheron portion of was very small. The major portion of coding was putting the bot into voxeljs. The real world usage is using sensor feedback from the robot to lay out maps in voxeljs. While sounding mildly silly when done with such a simple robot, the concept Similtanius Location And Mapping is a very serious field of study.
Thanks a lot of your feedback! :)
I agree bootstrap is not the best we can do, but given that it's a 48 hr hackathon we thought it was our best bet.
We did have a lot of visualizations and a leader board in the making but sadly couldn't get it out in time. It is really unfortunate that you had to try out the game at that time(2 AM+ here) or one of us would have been available to play a game against you. Thanks again for the feedback, We'll try to improve it as much as we can :)
I agree with your assessment of what we produced. This is great feedback going forward for us.
Thanks so much for the great feedback! Both suggestions are very valuable and are sure to make it in post-competition!
Appreciate the review! We were actually aiming for this design. It was meant to be a retro style game. Something you might see on the NES. Definitely agree with all the other criticisms though. Just ran out of time!
I can completely understand running out of time. That's the fun/frustrating part of NKO!
